Parneet Virk

Parneet graduated from UBC with a B.A. in Sociology and Asian Studies. She went on to get her M.A. in Social and Public Policy from the University of Leeds. Her dissertation focused on the scapegoating of immigrants amidst neoliberal austerity and rising authoritarian populism. Parneet was born and raised in Surrey, BC which is located on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish people. Her parents immigrated from Punjab three decades ago and gave her the passion for Punjabi-language and literature. Her interests lie in political theory, revolutionary struggle, and South Asian history. She loves to read novels and poetry, cook new meals, and being in nature in her free time.
