Recent Hollywood films and T.V. highlighting Asian cultures have gained increased popularity in the U.S.; yet, a history of misrepresentation and underrepresentation that Asian actors experienced must be recognized to propel greater diversity.
Light (he/they) is a second-year Media, Information and Technoculture student at Western University. He was born and raised in Myanmar, but immigrated to Canada in order to escape the political turmoil back home. Their main interests include political conflict, LGBTQ+ discrimination and immigration policies, with a focus on Southeast Asia. In his free time, Light does nail art, listens to Little Mix on repeat, and binge-watches Modern Family.
