Babette Okhuysen

Babette was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. At twenty she moved to Amsterdam for her studies. Today, she has a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, and is planning to do master’s in social studies as well. During her bachelor’s, she focused on conflict, international development and gender inequality. Throughout her academic years, she has increasingly developed a decolonial lens on her work, through which she examines how Western colonial ideas and systems continue to profoundly influence countries and people. She is also interested in nature conservation, cultural dynamics and diversity. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and planning activities for her and her friends.
