Maryam Abusamak
Maryam is a Palestinian passionate about social justice and activism. The granddaughter of Nakba survivors, she carries that history into her work. Throughout her undergraduate studies in media and journalism at the University of British Columbia, she has explored how media shapes narratives in the context of Palestine, colonialism, and injustice. Driven by a belief in press freedom and media accountability, she is interested in how media can deceive, amplify, and resist. She is also involved with the International Development and Relief Foundation, a Canadian charity that provides humanitarian aid to vulnerable communities worldwide.
